“Today I have sad news to share. After more than seven years of development, the company behind RethinkDB is shutting down. We worked very hard to make RethinkDB successful, but in spite of all our efforts we were ultimately unable to build a sustainable business.”
I also would like to know that, i’m a huge Fan of MongoDB, i believe this is the next generation for application development too. The time it consumes creating static datamodels… and ammend them ect. is huge! It can’t be tomorrows vision to stay with such static models.
I really like how you stacked them together in a map because usually, you are looking for a database in a specific context. How about when it comes to scalability and speed, that’s usually what the majority are looking for, can you make a map for this as well if you have some extra time?
Idea of this picture is very good. Few more changes required;
1. Along with Elastic Search, Apache Solr should be there. Since it is very similar and internally uses Lucene.
2. There is a section of Distributed Databases with Relational properties. Main focus is horizontally scalable unlike typical RDBMS. Google Spanner, NuoDB and CockroachDB. column oriented and distributed database.
